The European Researchers' Night

On September 27th in 2019, the event "The European Researchers' Night", of which I was a part as an invited speaker, took place at the Europa Shopping Centre in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. I got an opportunity to give a lecture on aquatic insect with the presentation „What alive is hidden in our rivers and lakes?” which was aimed at students and the general public.
The lecture focused on hydrobiology, specifically on aquatic insect in Slovak rivers and lakes. The first part of the lecture focused on which species we can find at the localities, the creation of length-mass relationships of some insect species and what the field and laboratory work of researchers looks like. The second part of the lecture was devoted to the research of ecosystem processes in lakes through the process of leaf decomposition, how this process works and how aquatic insects contribute to it.
